Trip to Snow Kingdom

  Kiruna
Fly to Stockholm and then to Kiruna. From there you’ll be picked up and taken to the Ice Hotel. Now your icy adventure begins! On thick snow-covered streets the car crunches along with its spikes. After about 30 minutes we reach the Ice Hotel. It’s beautifully located at the end of a lake (frozen, of course). We suggest booking a cabin next to your room in the Ice Hotel. If you arrive very late, you’ll appreciate spending the night in a typical Nordic log cabin with heating, bunk beds and a small kitchen. You won’t need much though, because the onsite restaurant is excellent and also in the city one can wrap yourself in wonderful reindeer pelts.

The next morning you’ll begin your day with a wonderful sauna and whirlpool. Well relaxed, you’ll then sit down at the breakfast table (don’t expect too much) after which the discovery trip begins – you can rent cross country skis, take a dog sled ride or go snowmobiling. Just the visit to the Ice Hotel alone is an adventure. In the evenings we recommend a trip to the wonderful inn with outstanding cuisine! Back at the hotel, go straight to the Ice Bar where you’ll drink something warm. Then it’s back to your room with a sleeping bag under your arm. You’ll roll out the sleeping bag onto the thick, soft reindeer skins. Then it’s shoes and hats off and into the sleeping bag. It can be cold to begin with – yet the thermometer never falls below -5°C! Now you’ll be served a hot, sweet berry punch, followed by cuddling up close together and falling asleep! The next morning it’s back in the sauna – for some who like it hot! After breakfast, if you have rented a cabin as we recommended, you can enjoy a peaceful rest from your ice night. And you’ll find that all too soon it will be time to say goodbye until the next Ice Age!
